Recovery of olive oil by-products through bio/hydro chars production for agricultural soil fertilization and environment preservation

Consortium

The current consortium involves five partners from four Mediterranean countries: France, Tunisia, Greece and Spain. These countries produce about 60% of the total worldwide olive oil amount. Therefore, they produce large amounts of OSW and OMW. Altogether, the partners have the skills and expertise needed to achieve the project objectives. Given the different pedoclimatic agricultural zones and the diverse skills of the involved researchers, FERTICHAR will give the opportunity for sharing and exchange of innovative tools, methods and approaches, between project partners and to establish new long term research collaboration with other structures working on sustainable development in general and energy/water/food sectors in particular. It is worth mentioning that CERTE, IS2M and RITTMO have already well established collaboration on biochars production and use. Currently, they are double-supervising two PhD theses.
